DANIEL ZAMALLOA: music

RUCU HUANUY

(traditional)
DANIEL ZAMALLOA with ensemble   Back
According to tradition, the palla represent the daughters of the nobility who used to escort the Inca ruler. Some of their songs speak of the greatness of the Inca Empire and mourn the ruler’s death, thus becoming the voice and memory of the conquered people.

In this version, the palla alternate sections with a conjunto mestizo, comprised of violin, harp, saxophone, clarinet and muted trumpet, which is a common type of ensemble in western Huánuco and in the Callejón de Conchucos in Ancash.
